Mentors: Get One – Be One!

My mentor said, “Let’s go do it’, not ‘You go do it’. How powerful when someone says, ‘Let’s!'” – Jim Rohn

I have this quote in my book, Vitamin C3 for Business, 52 Ideas to Connect, Contribute and Celebrate your way to Success!, in the section on Contributing.  It’s tip # 36 called Mentor O Mentor.

Help others be successful. A mentor is someone who offers their knowledge, wisdom and experience to someone with less experience.

The ultimate way to contribute to others is to mentor them. As a mentor, you can save someone time, money and undue stress all by sharing your experiences.  By helping someone grow and be successful, in addition to doing something satisfying, you are also building a lasting relationship that will benefit you both for years to come.

When working with a mentee, consider the following:

  • Look for someone who is willing to learn and implement action items.
  • Be clear about time expectations
  • Set a guide for topics: example business marketing only or any business topic

As you mentor a newbie in your industry, you can solidify your experiences and if you’re open to it, you may just catch some of their youthful enthusiasm.

All of these connections build community!
